BATD Conference Performance

Great achievements for Local Dance School!

The Diana Freedman’s School of Dance and Performing Arts had fantastic news this June when their principal Diana Freedman was elected as the Vice President of The British Association of Teachers of Dancing, the longest running Dance Association in the Country. Miss Diana is delighted to represent the B.A.T.D. and is the first Vice President in the London and Southern Region since 1982.

Alongside this fantastic news the dance school, who last year performed in Disneyland Paris, were one of only 9 Dance schools in the whole of England selected to perform at The B.A.T.Ds prestigious conference, this year held at The Crowne Plaza, Felbridge. The 22 students aged 11-23 successfully auditioned via video-link and performed their Cheerleading Routine, ‘We Will Rock You’ to a sold out audience. The evening was extra special by the attendance of Strictly Come Dancing’s AJ Pritchard, who gave the girls a standing ovation, featured them on his social media accounts, and praised all the talented dancers who took part. It has been a wonderful year for the Diana Freedman’s School of Dance who recently achieved 90% top marks in their recent Examinations, performed at the Fiesta Music Festival for local composer Polo Piatti at St Mary in the Castle, and performed the Pantomime ‘Cinderella’ at the De La Warr Pavilion.

Local Dance School Performs at Disney Land Paris!

October 2018

Bexhill and Pevensey based Performing Arts school The Diana Freedman's School of Dance and Performing Arts have had fantastic success with their pupils passing a Disney audition and performing there on the 27th October 2018. The Dance School had a brilliant weekend performing a 20 minute long routine to packed crowds on Disneyland Paris' prestigious Videopolis Stage in Discoveryland. The performance received tremendous cheers and compliments from the huge crowd and the School was delighted by their fantastic feedback. The Dance School had 35 performers take part and had been working hard since their video audition in July 2017, with weekly rehearsals culminating to their final phenomenal performance. The DFSD were ecstatic to be complimented by the Disney team for their slick performance and wonderful Disney smiles, and a fantastic weekend was had by all who attended.

Festivals

DFSD have had another incredible Festival this past year! Not only did we have fantastic results and placings, we were praised on our creative choreography, our strong technique and how polished and drilled our fabulous groups were! We even placed 1st in 3 out of 3 Group sections this year, proving how hard our team have been working and how motivated and hardworking they are as a team, from our lovely seniors down to our young juniors. Pupils at the Hastings Festival even qualified for the All England Regional Finals. Superb work!

The girls (and their parents!) have all worked so hard over long but successful Festival days, and we at DFSD are so proud of not only what they have achieved on stage but also their lovely behaviour backstage, supporting their fellow pupils, making friends and being kind to others. Thank you to all our pupils for putting their all in every day, to our parents for their continued support, and to friends and family for coming to watch. Also a big thank you to the organisers of these lovely friendly festivals of performers, supportive parents and fellow professional teachers.
